Kentucky State Fair Announces Official Scent of Summertime

The countdown is on to this year’s Kentucky State Fair! The annual festival is a feast for the senses, from the taste of the doughnut burger to the sounds of the Texas Roadhouse Concert Series. The Kentucky State Fair is partnering with Buff City Soap to give fairgoers the chance to experience one of the scents of the annual summertime celebration at home. The official scent of the 2022 Kentucky State is the Main Squeeze aka the delicious aroma of a lemonade shake-up. The Fair is known for many smells, from foods to farmyard, but nothing captures summer quite like a freshly made lemonade shake-up.  Whether exhibitors are washing off the scent of the show ring or cleaning up after the dog-days of summer, the Main Squeeze will have fairgoers feeling like they’re sipping an ice-cold lemonade shake-up on opening day. The brainchild of Shannon Schmit, Makery Manager at Buff City Soap in Elizabethtown KY, the Main Squeeze has notes of Lemon, Pomegranate, Grapefruit and Champagne. “Lemonade stands represent childhood memories and summertime, and a lemonade shake-up is a Kentucky State Fair classic!” said Schmit. “Creating a new soap is a team effort. We loved brainstorming and crafting a fun soap inspired by such a beloved state tradition!” The soap will be available at the St. Matthews, Nulu, Middletown, Pleasure Ridge Park, Elizabethtown and Jeffersonville stores beginning on August 1. The Main Squeeze is $8 per bar while supplies last. The 2022 Kentucky State Fair is Aug. 18-28 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
